Classic Arts News San Diego Chamber Orchestra Artistic Director Donald Barra to Step Down Donald Barra, the founder of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, will step down as artistic director at the end of the 2004-05 season, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Founded in 1984, the 36-member group performs regularly in the San Diego area and has made a series of recordings for Koch International Classics.

A search committee chaired by board vice-president S. Gay Hugo-Martinez will seek Barra's replacement. "He has done an outstanding job," board president Elsie Weston told the Union-Tribune. "It will be a hard role to fill."
