News San Diego's Old Globe Opens As You Like It July 11 LOS ANGELES--The Old Globe Theatre of San Diego will launch its summer Shakespeare tradition with As You Like It, directed by Stephen Wadsworth, in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre, beginning July 11. The play leads off the Old Globe's Festival '98 season.

LOS ANGELES--The Old Globe Theatre of San Diego will launch its summer Shakespeare tradition with As You Like It, directed by Stephen Wadsworth, in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre, beginning July 11. The play leads off the Old Globe's Festival '98 season. Written in early 1600, As You Like It takes audiences on a voyage of identity and gender bending, loves wronged, lost and found.

Director Wadsworth has worked at the Mark Taper Forum, Berkeley Rep, Seattle Rep, New York City Opera and Los Angeles Opera.

The cast includes Jack Banning as Adam, Ivar Brogger as Jacques, James Carpenter as Duke Frederick, Richard Easton as Le Beau/Corin, Francesca Faridany as Rosalind, J. Michael Flynn as Duke Senior, Leslie Kalarchian as Phebe, Aaron Krohn as Dennis/Sir Oliver Martext, Christopher Liam Moore as Silvius, Laurence O'Dwyer as Touchstone, Derrick Demetrius Parker as Charles, Heather Raffo as Audrey, Jared Reed as Orlando, Peter Smith as William, James Patrick Stuart as Oliver, Chris Pedro Trakas as Amiens, Margaret Welsh as Celia, plus an ensemble of Christian Casper, Andrea Cirie, Michael Cruz, Lina Patel, Baylen Thomas, Matthew Troncone and Jim Wallert.

Lighting is by Peter Maradudin, sound by Jeff Ladman, scenic design by Tom Lynch, and costume design by Anna Oliver.

The show previewed July 5-10, with regular shows running through August 15. Show times are 8 PM Tuesday through Sunday. The Old Globe Theatre in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre is in Balboa Park, San Diego. Tickets are from $23 to $39. For information, call (619) 239-2255.
