On Nov. 20, Santa Monica Playhouse will bring back one of its biggest commercial hits, Almost Perfect, for a run through Jan. 9, 2000. Written by Jerry Mayer, the comedy about life, love and infidelity premiered at the Playhouse in the late 80's and enjoyed a long run before moving to New York's Hudson Guild Theatre, followed by regional and international productions. The new production is directed by Chris De Carlo.Mayer is a veteran TV sitcom writer with credits that include "Mash," "All in the Family" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Almost Perfect was his first play. Another play by Mayer, a musical called Falling in Love, premiered at the Playhouse last spring.
