According to the Society of London Theatre’s website, Lancashire — best known for her role as Raquel the barmaid in the TV soap “Coronation Street” — is headed back to the stage. Her other stage roles include Linda in Blood Brothers, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and the title role in Educating Rita. However, this will be her highest-profile musical theatre part. At present the show, playing at the Piccadilly Theatre, stars Ewan McGregor as Sky Masterson, Krakowski as Miss Adelaide, Douglas Hodge as Nathan Detroit and Jenna Russell as Sarah Brown. No word yet on whether they will all be gone when Lancashire takes over or who will replace them. Meanwhile, Andrew Lloyd Webber was reportedly so impressed by McGregor’s performance as Sky that he’s earmarked him for the forthcoming film version of Sunset Boulevard.
