News Sarandon & Robbins Add Extra Edinburgh Date

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have agreed to give an extra performance of their staged reading of The Guys, Anne Nelson's moving play about the events of September 11, at the Royal Lyceum Theatre on August 6. The performances on Aug. 14 and 15 have already sold out.

The play, which began at the little Flea Theatre in New York (near the Twin Towers) has also proved a hit in Los Angeles, where Robbins appeared with Helen Hunt.

The Guys is based on a true story of how playwright Nelson helped a New York Fire Brigade captain compose eulogies for several of his men who perished when the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center collapsed after being struck by the hijacked aircraft.

In the play, Nick (Tim Robbins) turns up at Joan's (Susan Sarandon) apartment, still traumatized. His voice is so low he's barely audible. The play ends with him, in uniform, giving a eulogy.
