Ken Davenport, who authored and directed Awesome 80's Prom, tells Playbill.com that Diamond will play himself in the show through June 26. Davenport is also reworking the script to feature Diamond, who is best known for portraying loveable nerd Screech on the 1990's Saturday morning comedy series "Saved By the Bell." "The only thing better than being in the cast of Awesome 80’s Prom would be stealing Marty McFly's time machine and going to prom in the real 1980's," Diamond said in a statement.
Now in its fifth year, the immersive theatrical experience features characters made popular in 1980's films, all of whom compete for Prom King and Queen. During the evening, the audience gets to mingle, party and dance with the cast and ultimately vote for the winning prom couple.
