Classic Arts News Saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera to Appear at Manhattan Bookstore January 6 Paquito D'Rivera will appear at a Manhattan Barnes and Noble bookstore at 7 p.m. on January 6.
The Cuban-born multi-instrumentalist will perform and discuss his new memoir, My Sax Life.

The event, which takes place at 1972 Broadway near Lincoln Center, is free and open to the public.

D'Rivera performed with the Cuban National Symphony as a teenager and later helped to found the Orquesta Cubana de M‹sica Moderna as well as Irakere, a highly influential rock-jazz ensemble.

In 1981, he defected to the United States, and has since led several of his own groups on more than 30 albums. He also performed and recorded extensively with classical groups. He was named a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master for 2005.
