News Schwartz Will Direct World Premiere of Matter of Honor in Pasadena Pasadena Playhouse has announced the cast for the upcoming world premiere of Michael J. Chepiga's Matter of Honor, which begins performances Aug. 24.

Scott Schwartz (Golda's Balcony, Tick Tick Boom, Bat Boy: The Musical) directs. The work officially opens Aug. 31 and runs through Sept. 30 at the California venue.

The playwright of Getting and Spending penned the new West Point Military Academy-set drama that follows the story of two African-American cadets who strive to graduate from the venerable institution.

The cast features Steve Coombs, Richard Doyle, Eric Lutes, Cedric Sanders, Adam Smith and Brian Watkins with Steve Holm and John O'Brien.

The work is presented by special arrangement with Richard Willis, Janice Montana and Martin Markinson. The design team comprises Morgan (costumes) and Mark Bennett (sound).

Next up at the Playhouse, Ray Charles Live! will close out the season Oct. 31-Dec. 9. The new musical features songs of the late music legend with a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks. Sheldon Epps directs with Ken Roberson choreographing. Rahn Coleman is musical supervisor, and Harold Wheeler provides orchestrations.
