News "Score: A Hockey Musical," Featuring Olivia Newton-John, to Open Toronto International Film Festival "Score: A Hockey Musical," an independent film featuring a performance and songs written by Olivia Newton-John, is set to open the Toronto International Film Festival Sept. 9.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Michael McGowan wrote and directed the film, which will star newcomer Noah Reid as a sheltered teenager who finds himself on the hockey rink.

Newton-John and singer-songwriter Marc Jordan play the boy's parents and co-wrote a song that will play over the film's end credits. Songs throughout the film will feature music by Newton-John, Jordan, the Barenaked Ladies, Amy Sky and Hawksley Workman, all set to lyrics by McGowan.

The film also features Nelly Furtado, Allie MacDonald, Stephen McHattie and Dave Bidini from the rock band Rheostatics.

In addition to her pop-music career, Newton-John has starred in the film musicals "Grease" and "Xanadu" and recently made two guest appearances as herself on the Fox musical comedy series "Glee."

The Toronto International Film Festival is scheduled to run through Sept. 19.
