News Scott Alan Live in Concert Adds Second Australian Concert Date; Guest Stars Announced As previously reported, composer-lyricist Scott Alan, whose songs have been recorded by Shoshana Bean, Stephanie J. Block and Eden Espinosa, will make his Australian debut in September.

Alan will play Brisbane Powerhouse's Powerhouse Theatre Sept. 3. The 7:30 PM performance, presented by Harvest Rain Theatre Company, will feature tunes from his two CDs, "Dreaming Wide Awake" and "Keys." The composer will also offer songs from his forthcoming disc, "What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up." Local performers will join him on stage.

A second concert has been added: Alan will play Melbourne's Beckett Theatre Sept. 6. The 7:30 PM performance, also presented by Harvest Rain Theatre Company, will feature several guest stars, including West Side Story's Josh Piterman, Wicked's Japan Cassie McIvor and Jesus Christ Superstar's Luke Kennedy and Naomi Price.

In a previous statement Harvest Rain artistic director Tim O'Connor said, "After bringing Shoshana Bean to Australia and seeing the enormous public response to the Broadway to Brisvegas idea, I'm really excited at the prospect of bringing such a well respected composer as Scott Alan to Brisbane in September. I first heard his music a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with it, so much so that we made his song 'The Distance You Have Come' our official anthem at Harvest Rain for 2010, our 25th anniversary year. Having the chance to listen to this incredible man perform his own music right here in Brisbane is something I am very much looking forward to."

Scott Alan wrote the book, music and lyrics for the musical Detour, which was seen in Los Angeles. His current theatre projects include Piece, which was featured at the 2003 Palo Alto TheatreWorks festival, the 2005 NAMT festival and the 2007 Festival of New Musicals at Village Theatre; and the song cycle The Warmth of the Womb. He also produces the monthly Monday Nights, New Voices concert at the Duplex. Alan's music is available on his website, scottalan.net, and at iTunes.
