Rob McClure, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin in Chaplin, offered a completely honest response when asked his reaction to receiving the news.

"They said my name, and my wife gasped, and I said, 'Holy sh*t!'" he said with a laugh. "And, my phone — I got a text message, and my phone went, 'Bling!'… And, I looked, and it was a text from my mother that said, 'Holy sh*t!'"

Rising musical theatre songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul — one of the first nominees to contact the Playbill offices — spoke gleefully about becoming Tony nominees (for Best Original Score Written for the Theatre for A Christmas Story, The Musical) on April 30.

"I didn't want to get my hopes up," said Paul. "I sort of was playing it cool this morning, and I just slept in, and I was like, 'You know, maybe I'll watch,' and then around like 8:25 AM, I just freaked out, and thought, 'I have to watch! I'm going to turn on the TV!'"

Pasek added, "The possibility that we were included, let alone the fact that we were nominated, is mind-blowing to us! And, it's also so amazing, too, that there are people who we've known, coming up in New York, and they're reading our friends' names on the Tony nominations telecast! It's unbelievable for us that we get to be a part of it."

When Keala Settle — nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for Hands on a Hardbody — answered the first question, she simply started to scream. After 30 seconds of screams, cries and utter joy, she dished on how she received the news.

"Not even a second passed before my friends in the house came running past my door and saying, 'Girl! Get up, girl! You just got nominated for a Tony!' And, that was it. I just got up, and it felt like Christmas Day, literally."
