News See Cyndi Lauper and Kinky Boots Cast Accept Funds for Homeless Gay Youth Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS asks the theatre world for donations in special events all year long — but sometimes the charity also does some donating of its own.

Tom Viola, executive director of BC/EFA, is pictured with composer Cyndi Lauper and the Broadway cast of her musical Kinky Boots as he hands over an oversize check for $150,000 being donated to Lauper's charity, the True Colors Fund, which helps homeless gay and transgender young people.

The donation was made to acknowledge the more than $1.2 million raised by Kinky Boots for the annual Gypsy of the Year, Easter Bonnet and other BC/EFA fundraising events since the show opened in April 2013.
