A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, Sept. 11, for Boston critic and director Skip Ascheim, who succumbed to cancer on Aug. 6 at the age of 56.
The event will take place at 8 PM in Cambridge's Agassiz Theatre, where Mr. Ascheim acted and directed already as a Harvard undergraduate in the sixties.
He went on to posts as a drama critic for Boston's Tab newspapers, the Boston Phoenix, the Improper Bostonian, and the Boston Globe during the past twenty years. In 1990 he also founded the Boston Theatre Project, for which he directed a memorable production of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, featuring the cream of Boston's pool of actors.
The memorial, which is open to the public, is expected to include remarks by colleagues and performers, along with a video presentation. A reception will follow.
