Classic Arts News Shahams Open U.S. Tour in Philadelphia Pianist Orli Shaham and her violinist brother Gil open a seven-city tour of the United States at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center tonight.
The Shahams are performing Prokofiev's First Sonata and Five Melodies, two of the violin-and-piano works featured on the CD of the composer's works they issued last month through Gil Shaham's Canary Classics label. The program also includes three Mozart Sonatas.

Both of the Shahams, who grew up in Israel, began to perform at early ages, and both studied at the Juilliard School and won Avery Fisher Career Grants. They have toured together extensively, and in 1997 recorded a collection of Dvoršk duos titled Dvoršk for Two.
