Repeating the role she played on Broadway opposite the late Raul Julia, Sheena Easton will be Aldonza/Dulcinea in Westbury Music Fair's mounting of Man of La Mancha, June 2-7.

The 1965 musical, by Dale Wasserman (book), Mitch Leigh (music) and Joe Darion (lyrics), adapts Miguel de Cervantes' classic novel, Don Quixote. The hero is a deluded old man who sees himself as a gallant nobleman, one who sees purity even in a lowly prostitute, Aldonza, whom he renames Dulcinea. Man of La Mancha frames the Quixote story around Cervantes himself, imprisoned and arguing to the court that they not burn his manuscript.

Songs in La Mancha include "The Impossible Dream," "Dulcinea" and "Knight of the Woeful Countenance" and "To Each His Dulcinea."

Easton, a Scottish pop singer and two-time Grammy winner, made her theatrical debut in the Broadway La Mancha in 1992 and later appeared in Grease!. Produced by Delsener/Slater Enterprises, SFX Entertainment, Westbury's Man of La Mancha will announce its full cast in May.

Before La Mancha reaches Westbury, Long Island audiences can enjoy the upcoming Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (Apr. 28-May 3). The musical that made Carol Channing a household name will feature another household name: Barbara Eden, of TV's "I Dream Of Jeannie." KT Sullivan starred in a recent Broadway revival of this Jule Styne/Leo Robin show. Eden's previous shows at Westbury Music Fair include Same Time Next Year and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas. She toured with Don Knotts in The Last Of The Red Hot Lovers and starred at Night Club Confidential CA's Long Beach Civic Light Opera.

Also in the Blondes cast is Rita McKenzie, a former Weight Watchers spokesperson, playing Dorothy. Mary Ellen Ashley, Robert Jensen, Kenneth Kantor, Richard Kinter, Steven E. Moore and Maureen Sadusk also appear in the production, which is directed, choreographed and designed (set) by Norb Joerder.

Songs in the Jule Styne, Leo Robin, Anita Loos & Joseph Fields musical include "I'm Atingle, I'm Aglow," "Coquette," "I Love What I'm Doing," and, of course, "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend."
