First produced in 1980, True West brings two brothers, successful screenwriter Austin and homeless Lee, face-to-face in a modern Cain and Abel tale set up like a Western movie showdown. A Pultizer Prize winner for Buried Child, Shepard has written some 40 plays, 11 of them OBIE Award winners. Also an actor, he received a 1984 Oscar nomination for the role of Chuck Yeager in "The Right Stuff."

Cameron Dye and Paul Perri star as Austin and Lee. A TV and film actor ("Brooklyn South, "Murder, She Wrote," "Quantum Leap"), Dye recently appeared in the Fountain Theatre's Summer and Smoke and Orpheus Descending. Perri makes his Rep debut after appearing on Broadway in the Marshall W. Mason staging of Burn This and Arvin Brown's A View from the Bridge and Off-Broadway in Aunt Dan and Lemon. Also in the cast are Rep founding artists Hal Landon, Jr (Saul). and Martha McFarland (Mom).

Designing the show are Michael Smith (set), Alex Jaeger (costumes), Lonnie Alcaraz (lighting) and Max Kinberg (sound). Jamie L. Tucker is the stage manager.

Tickets are $45-$18 and are available by calling (714) 708-5555. The South Coast Repertory is located at 655 Town Center Drive. -- By Christine Ehren
