News Sher, Luftig, O'Keefe, Cohenour and More Set for "Spotlight Night" at 5th Avenue Theatre Tony Award winners Bartlett Sher, Hal Luftig and Tony-nominated composer Laurence O'Keefe will share their personal stories of working in theatre Jan. 5, 2010, at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre.

The free 7 PM "Spotlight Night" highlights the touring productions of South Pacific and Legally Blonde, both of which will play the Seattle venue in 2010.

In the first part of the evening, O'Keefe and producer Luftig will discuss the inside story of creating the Broadway musical Legally Blonde. O'Keefe will offer highlights from the musical, as well as selections from his other shows including Bat Boy. Luftig will discuss his 20-year career as the Tony-winning producer of such musicals as Thoroughly Modern Millie, Movin’ Out and the Broadway-aimed Catch Me If You Can.

Sher, who earned a Tony Award for his direction of South Pacific, will discuss the Rodgers and Hammerstein wartime classic and how he approached it for contemporary audiences.

The final segment of the event will trace the career and collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The segment will feature performances by Patti Cohenour, Jessica Skerrit and Eric Ankrim, who will sing selections from Oklahoma!, Carousel, Flower Drum Song, Cinderella, The King and I and The Sound of Music.
