News Sherman Brothers Working on New Musical Merry-Go-Round Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman, who have shows on both sides of the Atlantic with the hit Mary Poppins in London and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in New York, are working on a new musical called Merry-Go Round, Variety reported.

The show would be a rare Sherman brothers work written directly for the stage. Mary Poppins and Chitty are both drawn from popular movies of the same name. The new title is geared toward adults. Merry is based on an original story by composer Andy Belling and will be produced by Jack Stein. Paul Butler and Fred Fox Jr. will write the book.

Stein told Variety the musical would possess elements of "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol." In the tale, "a father and his grown son get on a merry-go-round that takes them back in time to relive moments from the son's childhood."

The will be a workshop this fall in Los Angeles.
