Classic Arts News Sherrill Milnes to Host Opera Cleveland's First Gala Concert Opera Cleveland, the new company formed earlier this year by the merger of the Cleveland Opera and Lyric Opera Cleveland, has announced a "gala debut concert" to celebrate the company's birth.
The event is set for Friday, October 6 at 8 pm in the Allen Theater on Cleveland's Playhouse Square. Sherrill Milnes, the internationally renowned veteran baritone, will host the event. Performing will be conductor Joseph Colaneri, the Opera Cleveland orchestra and chorus, and 11 young soloists associated with the Richard Tucker Music Foundation: Carolyn Betty, Jordan Bisch, Sarah Coburn, Gianna Corbisiero, Jennifer Holloway, Quinn Kelsey, Brian Mulligan, Laura Vlasak Nolan, Dimitri Pittas, Victor Ryan Robertson and Christian Van Horn.

Opera Cleveland's inaugural season will run from April to October 2007 and features Strauss's Salome (April 20-28). Verdi's La traviata (June 13-24), Britten's The Turn of the Screw (July 11-22), Sondheim's A Little Night Music (August 8-19) and Puccini's Tosca (October 19-27).
