After a career that included starring roles in the original productions of Annie Get Your Gun, Anything Goes, Call Me Madam and Gypsy, Ethel Merman — the star arguably most synonymous with Broadway musical theatre — went disco when she released "The Ethel Merman Disco Album" in 1979.

The seven-track recording on the A&M Records label did not sell particularly well, but it did go on to achieve a cult status. Now comes word that the Fynsworth Alley label will soon offer the Merman work on CD; no official release date has been announced.

The track listing for the original "The Ethel Merman Disco Album" follows:

  • "There's No Business Like Show Business"
  • "Everything's Coming up Roses"
  • "I Get a Kick Out of You"
  • "Something for the Boys"
  • "Some People"
  • "Alexander's Ragtime Band"
  • "I Got Rhythm"
