More than any other actor of his time, Olivier tried to bring the Bard to the masses, via the big screen. His movies of Henry V, Hamlet and Richard III were widely praised. At the Kaye event, film clips will be shown from Henry V, as well as a 1984 version of King Lear. The evening is sponsored by The Shakespeare Society, "a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the enjoyment, understanding, and appreciation of the works of William Shakespeare." Simon is the longtime theatre critic for New York magazine. Rees' many theatre credits include The Life and Time of Nicholas Nickelby, The Rehearsal and Indiscretions.
