News "Simply Sondheim: A 75th Birthday Salute" Due in Stores in October "Simply Sondheim: A 75th Birthday Salute," a concert celebrating the award-winning composer's birthday that was recorded live in San Francisco in December 2005, will be released on the Kritzerland label in October.

The two-CD set features artists from the San Francisco area and includes songs from all of Sondheim's major musicals. The recording is scheduled to arrive in stores Oct. 3, although it can be pre-ordered now by visiting www.kritzerland.com.

Composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim has written a plethora of critically acclaimed, award-winning musicals, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, A Little Night Music, Into the Woods, Merrily We Roll Along, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George and Passion. He also contributed lyrics to West Side Story and Gypsy, and his newest musical, Bounce, played Chicago and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His revised productions of The Frogs, Pacific Overtures and Assassins were on Broadway stages in 2004, and a revival of Sweeney Todd is currently playing the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Sondheim was also celebrated at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in summer 2002 with all-star stagings of six of his musicals — Company, Sweeney, Merrily, Night Music, Sunday and Passion.
