News Simpson, Wilson, Boyer, Anthony and More Set for 42nd Street Moon's Lady, Be Good! 42nd Street Moon's Ira Gershwin Celebration will kick off with the early Gershwin hit Lady, Be Good!

Previews will begin at San Francisco's Eureka Theatre March 31 with an official opening April 3. Performances will continue through April 18.

Chris Smith, who will direct, has obtained permission from the Ira Gershwin Trust to reset Lady, Be Good! in San Francisco.

In a statement director Smith said, "Lady, Be Good! has all the charm, sparkle and wit audiences expect from a Gershwin musical, and the madcap story — which begins when a sophisticated duo suddenly find themselves 'out on the streets' because they no longer can afford their rent — has resonances with today. Shifting the setting of their high society neighborhood to Nob Hill and the world-famous resort hotel to Napa Valley not only seems logical, it scans with the lyrics. I believe these little re-imaginings will help make our 42nd Street Moon production more fun and pertinent for Bay Area audiences."

The production will also feature musical direction by Dave Dobrusky and choreography by Zack Thomas Wilde.

Ian Simpson and Rena Wilson will head the cast as, respectively, Dick and Susie Trevor, with Andrew Boyer as Watty Watkins, Noel Anthony as Jack Robinson, Lexie Papedo as Shirley Vernon, Ben Knoll as Bertie Bassett, Lillian Askew Everdell as Daisy and Rudy Guerrero as Estrada/Rufus. Also featured are Nicholas Yenson, Luke Anthony, Kerie Geni Darner, Caleb Haven Draper, and Jade Shojaee. For tickets, priced $39-$44, call (415) 255-8207 or visit www.42ndstmoon.org. All performances are presented at San Francisco’s Eureka Theatre, 215 Jackson Street.
