News "Simpsons" Star Smith and "Joan of Arcadia" Actor Gilliland Set for Balancing Act The American premiere of Frank Salisbury's Balancing Act will be presented at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank, CA.

Directed by Adam Carl, performances will begin April 11 with an official opening April 20. The limited engagement will play through May 6.

The cast includes Richard Gilliland — whose most recent screen credits include "Joan of Arcadia" and "24" — and Emmy Award winner Yeardley Smith of "The Simpsons" fame.

"After embezzling a small fortune from his employer," read Balancing Act press notes, "executive Eugene Ormsby (Gilliland) is skipping the country. But before he can catch his flight, by-the-book accountant Beth Washburn (Smith) arrives at his doorstep. She's found several inconsistencies in the company ledgers and fears that someone is cooking the books. Eugene realizes that he must silence his new liability, one way or another, in Frank Salisbury's suspense-filled comedy."

Yeardley Smith was seen on Broadway in the original production of The Real Thing. She won an Emmy Award for her work on "The Simpsons," and her other screen credits include "Dharma and Greg," "City Slickers" and "As Good As It Gets." She performed her one-woman show More at Off-Broadway's Union Square Theatre.

Richard Gilliland was recently seen on the L.A. stage opposite Tony Danza in Bernard Slade's I Remember You. His more recent screen credits include "24," "The Power Puff Principle," "Crossing Jordan," "Joan of Arcadia," "Becker," "Judging Amy," and "Party of Five."
