Co-directed by Matt Steiner and Richardson, Veritas, according to press notes, is based on "the tragic true story of a secret gay witch-hunt at Harvard in 1920, that was completely unknown [to historians]. A student journalist unearthed a box of handwritten transcripts in the bowels of the Harvard library over 80 years later."
The cast comprises John Garrett Greer (Nathaniel Wollf), Chris Harral (Kenneth Day), Daniel Isaac (Edward Say), John McGinty (Eugene Cummings), DeLance Minefee (George Wilcox), Luis Moreno (Harold Saxton), Marquis Rodriguez (Joseph Lumbard), Brendan Spieth (Stanley Gilkey), Matt Steiner (Keith Smerage) and Amir Wachterman (Ernest Roberts).
The creative and production team includes creative designer Meg Stemmler, event producer Lindsay Maiorana, lighting designer Paul Hudson, costume designer Ashley Walch, dramaturg Jordan Schildcrout, production stage manager Liz Richards, general manager Gwyn Osnos and marketing director Nicole Ofeno.
In a recent statement playwright Richardson said, “This site-specific re-imagining of my play Veritas, is the Representatives’ most ambitious project yet. Many things excite us about this, our first 'public' production: the diverse cast of excellent actors playing the ten Harvard students; the intimate environmental staging; the fun and informative after parties. But on a larger scale, we’re hoping that this production will encourage Harvard to properly acknowledge their terrible error in judgment by giving honorary degrees to the young men whose lives the university destroyed almost a century ago.”
