The concerts, which are titled Luck Be a Lady: Megan Hilty Sings Sinatra and More, are scheduled for Nov. 23-24. Hilty will pay tribute to the music of Frank Sinatra, as well as the Rat Pack, Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James. The performances will be led by NSO Principal Pops Conductor Steven Reineke.
The concerts replace previously scheduled performances with Seth MacFarlane, titled The Songs of Sammy Cahn. MacFarlane is unavailable to perform with the NSO Pops due to a scheduling conflict.
Hilty was recently seen as Lorelei Lee, the diamond-loving blonde made famous by Carol Channing, in New York City Center’s Encores! run of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She also played Doralee Rhodes in Broadway’s 9 to 5: The Musical and made her Broadway debut as Glinda in Wicked.
The NSO Pops season will also include The Wizard and I: The Musical Journey of Stephen Schwartz, which will pay tribute to both the 65th birthday of Stephen Schwartz and the 10th anniversary of Wicked and will feature Jennifer Laura Thompson and Julia Murney (May 16-18, 2013).
Tickets range from $20 to $85 and are available through the Kennedy Center box office and through Instant Charge at (202) 467-4600. For more information visit www.kennedy-center.org.
