News "Smash" Star Katharine McPhee to Star in "Depravity" Film Katharine McPhee, who starred on the recently wrapped NBC musical series "Smash," is attached to star in an upcoming thriller film entitled "Depravity," according to Deadline.com.

Oscar nominee Paul Tamasy ("The Fighter") is set to direct the film, which was penned by Dennis Lehane ("Shutter Island") and centers on a group of roommates who accidentally kill an innocent man they thought was a thrill killer. McPhee will play a twentysomething who the group tries to scapegoat.

McPhee, who was runner-up in the fifth season of the reality series "American Idol," has been seen on film and television in "The House Bunny" and "CSI: NY," among others. She released a self-titled debut album and a second album entitled "Unbroken."

Dorothy Aufiero and Todd Eckert will produce "Depravity."
