Netflix is currently filming a new ensemble dance movie that may entice Broadway fans. Feel the Beat tells the story of a young actor (played by star of Disney’s Descendants Sofia Carson) who returns to her hometown after failing to make it on the Great White Way. Those who can’t do, teach, and April is reluctantly recruited to school a misfit group of dancers for a big competition.
The ensemble cast also includes Donna Lynne Champlin (Sweeney Todd, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Wolfgang Novogratz (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser), Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars), and Lidya Jewett (Hidden Figures), along with Eva Hauge, Johanna Colón (Troupe Zero), Sadie Lapidus, Shiloh Nelson (Tomorrowland), Shaylee Mansfield, Justin Allan, Kai Zen, Carina Battrick, Brandon Kyle Goodman (Plus One), Ken Pak, Dennis Andres, and Amy Stewart.
The series hails from writers Michael Armbruster and Shawn Ku, with Elissa Down directing and Emmy Award–winning So You Think You Can Dance and Finding Neverland alum Mia Michaels choreographing. Susan Cartsonis will produce for Resonate Entertainment, with Brent Emery, Suzanne Farwell and Aaron Barnett exec producing.
