News Sondheim on Sondheim Available for Licensing from Music Theatre International Sondheim on Sondheim, the two-act musical that explores the life and career of the legendary Broadway composer-lyricist through his vast catalogue of work, is now available for licensing from Music Theatre International.

Originally conceived and directed by collaborator James Lapine (Passion, Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park...), Sondheim On Sondheim debuted on Broadway during the 2010 season. It is composed from musicals featuring lyrics by Sondheim, including West Side Story and Gypsy, as well as shows for which he authored music and lyrics, including Merrily We Roll Along, Passion, Company, Follies, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Sweeney Todd, Into The Woods and more.

Included in the licensing materials for the production is video footage used in the original Broadway production, which features exclusive interviews with the composer-lyricist that were created specifically for the musical.

Sondheim on Sondheim also includes new arrangements by David Loud and orchestrations by Michael Starobin.

Sondheim on Sondheim weaves new video interviews of Sondheim with performances of his songs — well-known tunes, fan favorites and obscure numbers. The score includes "Franklin Shepard, Inc," "Beautiful," "Being Alive," "Opening Doors," "Take Me to the World," "Loving You," "Happiness," "Losing My Mind," "Something Just Broke," "Send in the Clowns" and more.

A PS Classics cast album preserves the Broadway production, which featured Barbara Cook, Vanessa Williams, Tom Wopat, Leslie Kritzer, Norm Lewis, Euan Morton, Erin Mackey and Matthew Scott. Visit MTIShows.com.
