Surviving the Avalanche: The Songs of Jeremy Desmon & Vadim Feichtner, billed as a raucous evening of original songs featuring Miguel Cervantes, Andrew Kober, Dana Steingold and Cassie Wooley, is The Barrington Stage Musical Theatre Lab cabaret in June.

Under the direction and music direction of Matt Castle, performances play June 11-12 at BSC Stage 2 in Pittsfield, MA.

Feichtner, musical director of the BSC productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, The Memory Show and this season's Mormons, Mothers and Monsters, is also a composer. Together with lyricist Jeremy Desmon, "they are two of the funniest and freshest songwriting teams working today," according to BSC. "Surviving the Avalanche proves no climb is easy — love, sex, career, family holidays in Kansas — but one thing is clear: when life keeps throwing rocks at you, the best thing to do is sing."

Performances are June 11 at 8 PM and June 12 at 3 PM at BSC Stage 2 at 36 Linden Street in Pittsfield, MA. (This is the same intimate venue where Off-Broadway's Freud's Last Session was launched.)

Tickets are $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday. For reservations, call (413) 236-8888, at the Barrington Stage box office (30 Union Street), or online at

Desmon received the Edward Kleban Award for Musical Theatre Bookwriting as well as a Jonathan Larson Fellowship from the Dramatists Guild for his work as a lyricist. He is also playwright of the new comedy 7½ Wondrous Act(s) of True Love. In addition, Jeremy's been entrusted with putting words (and lyrics) into the high-pitched voices of Elmo, Mickey Mouse, Curious George and countless other animated and/or furry characters, writing live stage shows for audiences around the world. Feichtner was most recently the musical director/conductor/dance arranger for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Broadway, and touring companies). As a composer he contributed music to William Finn's Songs of Innocence and Experience, which received its premiere at Williams College. He also wrote the incidental music for the Public Theater's production of As You Like It in Central Park. Recordings include Elegies, Infinite Joy, I Sing!, RCA's "Great Musicals," and the Grammy nominated …Spelling Bee. He is an alumnus of Miami University and the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
