Jay Records has released a soundtrack recording of the recent TV version of "Peter Pan," starring Cathy Rigby.

The TV version, a slightly trimmed document of the musical revival seen on Broadway, was seen on A&E in October and will be repeated throughout the holiday season (noon Eastern Time Thanksgiving Day, for example).

The 53-minute disc contains material from the La Mirada Theatre filming of the beloved American musical, written by Carolyn Leigh (lyrics) and Moose Charlap (music), with additional songs by Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Jule Styne.

The TV movie was significant in that, unlike the previous video versions starring Mary Martin, the wires that fly Rigby as Peter Pan were electronically erased, creating the illusion of real flight for Rigby and her castmates.

Jay also has a revival cast recording of the stage version available; they are two different discs (not a case of repackaging), a spokesperson assured. The TV soundtrack recording preserves all of the rhythmic dance music from the newly conceived "Ugh a-Wug" number (the percussive choreography is by Patti Colombo, the arrangements are by Craig Barna). The disc includes Opening Titles/"Tender Shepherd," "I Gotta Crow," "Neverland," "I'm Flying," "Opening Act Two/"Hook's Tango," "Indian Dance," "Wendy," "I Won't Grow Up," "Hook's Tarantella," "Ugh-a-Wug," "Distant Melody," "Farewell," "Hook's Waltz," "I Gotta Crow" (reprise), Finale and Bows/End Titles.

The cast includes Rigby as Peter, Paul Schoeffler as Captain Hook, Drake English as Michael, Michael Nostrand as Smee, Elisa Sagardia as Wendy, Barry Cavanagh as John and Dana Solimando as Tiger Lily.

The Rigby version of the show, lauded as an intelligently revised and refreshing version of the classic James M. Barrie play and the subsequent 1954 musical, is also available on VHS and DVD. Glenn Casale directed the revival, which ran on Broadway in the 1998 and 1999 seasons in two separate engagements.
