News Spelling Bee Cast, 365 Plays, Mailer, Salem Part of Makor March Theatre Schedule Norman Mailer, Marc Salem, Suzan-Lori Parks' 365 Plays/365 Days project and cast members from The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be among the theatre offerings at the 92nd Street Y's Makor series in March.

On March 19 cast members from Broadway's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will participate with Makor in an adult spelling bee.

Mailer's play The Deer Park will get a reading March 25. The work, adapted from Mailer's novel, is about the author's experiences as a screenwriter during McCarthyism. Stephan Morrow directs the reading, which is followed by a discussion with Mailer.

On March 18, Makor will take its turn participating in Parks' 365 Plays/365 Days project. Beginning in November 2002, Parks, a Pulitzer Prize winner for Topdog/Underdog, wrote a play a day for 365 days, and companies around the city are taking turns presenting a weeks' worth of plays. Makor is teaming with the New York Neo-Futurists.

Marc Salem's Mind Games, from the "mentalist" who starred in Marc Salem's Mind Games on Broadway, will be presented March 19 and March 26.

Ari Roth, the artistic director of Theater J, plus the playwright Karen Hartman and others will participate in Not Your Grandparents' Jewish Theater, a participatory performance and discussion on contemporary Jewish Theater, on March 4. On March 4 and March 15, Makor will present a concert version of Soul Searching, from last year's New York Musical Theatre Festival, which "follows a single Jewish woman on her quest for romantic and spiritual fulfillment," according to press notes.

A staged reading of Ed Napier's play Refugees: A Play About Berghof and Hagen, about Herbert Berghof's relationship with the actress Uta Hagen, will go up March 5.

Five in One: The Best of the Manhattan Monologue Slam, featuring Katie Northlick, Robin Selfridge, Jodi Letizia and the Galinsky Brothers in solo performances, will take place on March 6 and March 29.

Acoustic Theater, Makor's monthly series featuring play readings paired with tunes from emerging singer-songwriters, will take place March 17 and April 14. Mortified, in which participants read personal embarrassing stories of teen angst, will take place March 21.
