The two evenings will be held at the 45th Street Theatre beginning at 6:30 PM. BMI writers Beth Falcone — composer-lyricist of Wanda's World — and Louise Beach — composer of Sabina — will be showcased Oct. 24. Wanda's World, which features a book by Eric Weinberger, focuses on "the adjustment a young teenager makes when she moves to a new town." Sabina, with lyrics by Darrah Cloud, is an adaptation of Willy Holtzman's play and concerns "a Russian-Jewish woman who influenced both Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud." The Nov. 7 evening will feature Barry Wyner and his musical Calvin Berger, a hip update of Cyrano about "12th grader Calvin Berger [who] grapples with his insecurity about the size of his nose." The performers for the night will include Spelling Bee's Celia Keenan-Bolger, Wicked's Robb Sapp, My Life with Albertine's Nicholas Belton and Cupid and Psyche's Deborah Lew.
The 45th Street Theatre is located at 354 West 45th Street, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Tickets are priced at $10; for reservations call (212) 989-6706 or e-mail [email protected].
