News Spring Awakening Cast Set for Operation Backpack Event at O'Neill Theatre Cast members of Broadway's Spring Awakening – including Kyle Riabko and Blake Bashoff – will join members of Operation Backpack for a special event at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre July 9.

From 12-12:45 PM, Riabko and Bashoff will join fellow Spring cast members Alexandra Socha, Lili Cooper, Blake Daniel and Emma Hunton to sign limited edition poster-size campaign ads for Operation Backpack.

For a $20 donation, Spring Awakening cast members will sign the posters for the campaign that supplies backpacks and school supplies to homeless children. Further information is available by visiting OperationBackPackNYC.org.

Spring Awakening won eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The hit production features direction by Michael Mayer, choreography by Bill T. Jones, book and lyrics by Steven Sater and a score by Duncan Sheik.

The musical made its world premiere Off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theater Company in June 2006. Spring Awakening transferred to Broadway the following November, where it continues to play at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.

As previously reported, the national tour of Spring Awakening will rock San Diego's Balboa Theatre Aug. 15-31 prior to its official tour launch at San Francisco's Curran Theatre Sept. 4-Oct. 12. Both Riabko and Bashoff will reprise their roles for the national tour of the musical. Hunter Parrish, who plays Silas on the Showtime series "Weeds," will succeed Riabko in the role of Melchior in the Broadway production on Aug. 18. A replacement for Bashoff has not been named.
