News Spring Awakening Producers Honored for Inclusion and Diversity on Broadway Ken Davenport, Cody Lassen, Hunter Arnold and David J. Kurs, producers of Deaf West's Broadway revival of Spring Awakening, were honored with the Champion of Change Award by the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities Oct. 19.

The award reads: "For its efforts to increase diversity and inclusivity on Broadway. Its production of Spring Awakening shines a spotlight on talented actors of all abilities and creates a Broadway experience that can be enjoyed by every New Yorker. As we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, I am delighted to join in applauding Deaf West Theatre’s commitment to broadening our city’s cultural landscape and to building a more equitable tomorrow for all New Yorkers. [Signed, Bill de Blasio, Mayor; October 19, 2015.]"

The Broadway revival of Spring Awakening features a cast of both hearing and deaf actors. Michael Arden directs.

The musical has a book and lyrics Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik.
