News Spring Awakening to Feature Post-Show Talkbacks in North Carolina The eight-time Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening will open Feb. 2 at the Belk Theatre in Charlotte, NC, performing there through Feb. 7.

Post-show discussions are scheduled following performances on Feb. 3 at 7:30 PM, Feb. 4 at 7:30 PM, Feb. 5 at 8 PM and Feb. 6 at 8 PM. The rock musical, which explores teenage sexuality in repressive 1890s Germany, often generates animated conversation. Based on the play by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening features music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater. The production is directed by Michael Mayer and choreographed by Bill T. Jones.

Tickets for Spring Awakening are on sale at the Belk Theater box office, by calling (704) 372-1000 and at BlumenthalCenter.org. For group sales, call (704) 379-1380. Student rush tickets are available at the box office two hours before each performance, with one $20 ticket available for purchase with valid ID.

Spring Awakening is being presented by the Blumenthal Arts Center as part of the Duke Energy Broadway Lights Series.
