News Spring Awakening's Groff to Help Celebrate Daylight Savings Spring Awakening star Jonathan Groff will, appropriately enough, herald the coming of spring by appearing at a daylight savings time celebration at the Tourneau store on 57th Street in Manhattan on March 10 at 11 AM.

Every year, the Tourneau store invites a New York celebrity to the event, which involves winding forward over 8,000 watches.

Daylight savings time technically begins in the very early morning of March 11 when clocks are shifted from 2 AM to 3 AM. For the last several years it has taken place on the first Sunday in April, though this year the rules have changed to extend daylight savings time by three weeks in the spring and one week in the fall.

Tourneau is a century-old watch brand. The store is located on 57th Street at Madison Avenue.

Spring Awakening has music by Duncan Sheik, lyrics and book by Steven Sater, direction by Michael Mayer and choreography by Bill T. Jones. The musical is based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 expressionist play, which was scandalous in its day for addressing sex, violence and suicide. Two actors play all the adult roles, and the others in the ensemble cast plays teenagers. Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff play the lead roles of two teens drawn to each other in a world where parents, ministers and teachers create an atmosphere of shame, silence and ignorance.

Spring Awakening began previews at Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Nov. 16, 2006 and opened Dec. 10, 2006. Its world premiere was Off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theatre Company, where it opened June 15, 2006.

The Eugene O'Neill Theatre is at 230 West 49th Street. For more information on the show visit springawakening.com.
