Krysta Rodriquez, who has appeared on Broadway in such shows as Spring Awakening, First Date, and The Addams Family, will help kick off an all-star alumni performance series to benefit her alma mater, the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), September 9 in Newport Beach, California.

Her appearance, which includes a performance with members of this year’s student body, will launch the school’s yearlong Master Artist Series of special appearances by stars, including Megan Hilty, Susan Egan, and Mary Poppins composer Richard Sherman.

Celebrating the beginning of its 31st season, the non-profit OCSA is hosting the 5:30 PM event at Balboa Bay Resort, at 1221 West Coast Highway in Newport Beach.

In addition to her Broadway appearances, Rodriquez was also featured on the NBC series Smash. When she was a student at OCSA, she played the title role in Gidget: The Musical, which was co-written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.

OCSA jazz musicians will entertain during a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the performance.

OCSA offers a tuition-free education to more than 2,000 gifted high schoolers drawn from five California counties, funded by events like this one. Hilty, who received a Tony nomination in 2016 for Noises Off, has been a special guest performer on Playbill’s Broadway By the Sea cruises.
