Scott Brooks’ new play, Like a Springsteen Song, will begin performances at New York’s Blue Heron Arts Center Oct. 29 prior to an official opening on Oct. 31.

Produced by the Badlands Theater Company, Like a Springsteen Song is an unconventional love story influenced by the music of rock legend Bruce Springsteen. Sondra Wymar and Joe Hickey star as, respectively, Sara and George, two childhood friends who meet years later on a street corner and rekindle their friendship. Per the lyrics of Bruce Springsteen, the two have “one last chance to make it real.” Cat Proper will direct.

Like a Springsteen Song will be part of an evening that also includes a series of vignettes about standing in line. Is This the Line? features stories written by Jaime Andrews, Mark Ransom, Lisa Stock and Scott Brooks. The latter will direct the piece.

The Blue Heron Arts Center is located at 123 East 24th Street between Lexington Avenue and Park Avenue South. Tickets are priced at $15 and are available by calling (212) 330-6554. The evening runs two hours.
