Amy Staats and Troy Myers lead the cast of Bare Element's revival of A Hatful of Rain, Oct. 27-Nov. 7 at the Miranda Theater in New York. Mollie O' Mara, a founder of the Cucaracha Theater Company, directs.
Originally performed on Broadway in 1955, Hatful follows junkie Johnny Pope as he tries desperately to conceal his drug habit from his sweet, pregnant wife Celia. He is helped out by his brother Polo, who gives Johnny the money for the drugs, even as he falls in love with his brother's wife.
Staats, cast as Celia, recently appeared in the Ensemble Studio Theatre's one-act Marathon '99 and in Tryptich at the Homegrown Theater. Myers (Johnny) performed on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman and recently in Talley's Folly at the Schoolhouse Theater. Stephen Palgon, a Bare Elements co-founder, portrays Polo.
Tickets are $12 and available by calling (212) 560-2696. The Miranda Theater is located at 258 West 30th Street.
