News Stage and Screen Star Jackman Named People's Sexiest Man Alive Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman, who made his Broadway debut in The Boy From Oz, has been named by People magazine as 2008's Sexiest Man Alive.

In its current issue the celebrity magazine says Jackman is a "triple threat: a star who can sing, dance and wield a weapon. At 6 ft. 2 in., all scruff and biceps, Hugh Jackman looms large in the epic 'Australia,' which he says kept him 'dirty 95 percent of the time' and left people stammering, 'Oh ... my ... God,' according to costar Nicole Kidman, who adds, 'Women's jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room.'" About wife Deborra-Lee Furness' reaction to Jackman's new honor, the stage and screen star told People, "God bless her, she said, 'I could've told them that years ago!' And then she said, 'Obviously, Brad wasn't available this year.' And I said, 'That was a joke, right?'"

Jackman earned a Tony Award for his work in the Broadway musical The Boy From Oz. He is also known for his film roles in the "X-Men" trilogy, "Someone Like You," "Swordfish," "Kate and Leopold," "Van Helsing" and the recent "Australia," "The Fountain" and "Happy Feet" (in voice). His stage credits also include Trevor Nunn's staging of Oklahoma! at Britian's National Theatre and award-winning work in productions of Sunset Boulevard and Beauty and the Beast in his homeland.
