Sally Gracie, a film, TV and theatre actress once married to actor Rod Steiger, died Aug. 13 at the age of 80 in her Manhattan home, the New York Times reported.

Her husband, Charles Kebbe, predeceased her last year. Among Ms. Gracie's stage credits were Broadway's At War With the Army, her Broadway debut, at the Booth Theatre, in 1948; Dinosaur Wharf at the National in 1951; Goodbye Again at the Helen Hayes in 1956; Major Barbara at the Martin Beck in 1956 (she played Rummie Mitchums); Fair Game at the Longacre in 1957; and Venus at Large at the Morosco in 1962.

She appeared at the East Coast's major summer theatres over the years, and had roles on television serials and dramas throughout her career. She played Martha Allen on TV's "The Doctors" 1968-77, and Ina Hopkins on "One Life to Live" 1978-83. Her films include "Stage Struck" and "The Fugitive Kind."

She was born Sarah Ellen Gracie in Little Rock, AR. Her father was a cotton planter. When she came to New York, she studied acting with Sanford Meisner at The Neighborhood Playhouse, and with Martin Ritt.

Ms. Gracie is survived by a son, a stepdaughter, a stepson and six grandchildren. — By Kenneth Jones
