News Stephen Zinnato Begins Solving Perfect Crime Off-Broadway July 19 "Guiding Light" actor Stephen Zinnato begins a two-week engagement in the long-running Off-Broadway thriller Perfect Crime, starting July 19 at the Snapple Theater Center.

Zinnato, who also appeared in the tours of Ragtime and Beauty and the Beast, steps into the role of Inspector James Ascher through Aug. 1. Zinnato is filling in for cast member Richard Shoberg, who will return Aug. 2.

Perfect Crime also features John Hillner, George McDaniel, Patrick Robustelli and original cast member Catherine Russell.

Written by Warren Manzi and directed by Jeffrey Hyatt, Perfect Crime played its 9,500th performance Off-Broadway July 14.

According to producers, Perfect Crime "tells the story of Margaret Brent, an accomplished Connecticut psychiatrist and potential cold-blooded killer. When her wealthy husband turns up dead, she gets caught in the middle of a terrifying game of cat and mouse with a deranged patient and the handsome but duplicitous investigator assigned to the case. As the clock ticks to the final chilling revelation, a mounting set of secrets and indiscretions leads to a shocking turns of events. Did Margaret Brent commit 'the perfect crime?'"

Perfect Crime opened as an Equity Showcase in 1987 and since moving Off-Broadway has been running for 23 years, making it the longest-running play in the history of New York theatre.
