News Sternhagen, Eikenberry and Taylor Set for "Selected Shorts" at Westport Playhouse Jan. 15 Tony Award winner Frances Sternhagen will join actresses Jill Eikenberry and Myra Lucretia Taylor for the Westport Country Playhouse's live presentation of the radio program "Selected Shorts."

"Selected Shorts" is the award-winning, one-hour radio program from PRI, which features readings of classic and new short fiction by notable actors from stage and screen. Now in its 20th season, "Selected Shorts" is hosted by Isaiah Sheffer and produced by Symphony Space in New York City.

The 8 PM Jan. 15, 2008, live presentation is entitled The MacDowell Colony: A Centennial Celebration, and will include the short stories "A Curtain of Green" by Eudora Welty, "Nineteen Fifty-Five" by Alice Walker and "Pilgrims" by Julie Orringer. The three authors were nurtured and inspired by the isolation and vital artistic community of The MacDowell Colony for artists, which James Baldwin called a place "to crouch in order to spring."

The actresses will read from the works of Welty, Walker and Orringer.

Eikenberry earned a Golden Globe Award and five Emmy Award nominations for television's "L.A. Law." Her stage credits include Moonchildren, Watch on the Rhine, Summer Brave, Onward Victoria, All Over Town, and her Obie-winning performances in Lemon Sky and Life Underwater.
