Pandemonium launched a limited U.S. tour at the Ziff Opera House in Miami, FL, Sept. 16. The production continued through Sept. 26 and traveled to Raleigh, NC, for a Sept. 29-Oct. 3 run at the Memorial Auditorium. Reviews in Miami were encouraging.
The North Carolina dates marked the conclusion of the short-lived tour, which had also booked stops in Washington, DC; Chicago, IL; and Boston, MA. Additional engagements in Los Angeles and San Francisco were also in the works.
"We have learned that launching a new and unknown project in the current economic climate was overly ambitious," Cresswell and McNicholas said in a statement. They hope to return to the now-canceled markets in the future.
Following its 2006 U.K. premiere in Brighton, Pandemonium toured to the Sydney Opera House in 2007, followed by a run at London's Royal Festival Hall in 2008 and an engagement at the Carre Theatre in Amsterdam in March 2009.
Pandemonium uses vacuum cleaners, musical saws, bottles, hair driers, whirly toys, traffic cones and other found items to create a unique orchestra. The tour also incorporated a 30-member local choir for each of its tour stops. Visit PandemoniumtheShow.
