Rick McKay, who created the acclaimed documentary "Broadway: The Golden Age," will narrate the evening, which is entitled Everything's Coming Up Jule: A Centennial Celebration of Jule Styne. The one-night-only event will boast performances by Elaine Stritch ("The Party's Over"), Klea Blackhurst ("That Ain't Hay" and "I'll Walk Alone") and Ron Raines ("Time After Time," "Long Before I Knew You" and "Just in Time"). Musical director Aaron Gandy will accompany the singers on piano. Rebecca Paller is the curator for Everything's Coming Up Jule, which will also feature rare television performances by Styne, Nanette Fabray, Jane Powell, Frank Sinatra, Carol Channing, Mary Martin, Phyllis Newman, Barbra Streisand and Ethel Merman. Newman, Powell and Styne's widow, Margaret Styne, are all expected to attend the celebration, which begins at 6 PM.
Jule Styne's Broadway composing credits include High Button Shoes, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Funny Girl, Bells Are Ringing, Peter Pan and Gypsy. Among his catalog of tunes are such ditties as "Time After Time," "All I Need Is the Girl," "Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry," "It's Magic," "People," "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!," "Never Never Land," "Small World," "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "Just in Time."
