Two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster will be presented with an honorary doctorate of music from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She joins past honorary degree recipients Betty Buckley, Debbie Allen, Barbara Cook, Billy Porter, and Mary Rogers, among others.
Foster will receive the honorary doctorate May 11 as part of Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s commencement ceremony. She will address the graduating class during the event, which will be closed to the public.
As recently reported, Foster will return to Broadway next year as Marian Paroo (the role created by the late Cook) in the revival of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man. She will star alongside fellow Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman in the Jerry Zaks-directed production.
Foster, a Tony winner for her performances in Anything Goes and Thoroughly Modern Millie, last appeared on the Broadway stage in Violet. Additional credits include Shrek, Young Frankenstein, The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women, and the recent Off-Broadway revival of Sweet Charity. She currently stars in the TV Land series Younger.
