Backsliding will run Jan. 15 through Feb. 2, under the direction of Robert Moss. In contrast to Kill, a black comedy which saw three frustrated wives locking their husbands in a freezer, Backsliding is serious in tone. Herman and Enid, played by Munson Hicks and Jacqueline Brooks, are two passionate Episcopalians—that is, until they meet an Orthodox Jewish couple, played by Tommy Schrider and Anne Penner, who remind them of their Jewish roots. Brookes acted in the original New York productions The House of Blue Leaves and Buried Child. She won an Obie for Six Characters in Search of an Author. Also in the cast are Suzanne Grodner, Judith Roberts, Kelly Trumbell, Alex Friedman and Ryan Ferguson.
