Classic Arts News Syracuse Symphony Announces Season Lineup The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra's 2006-07 season will include performances by pianist Peter Serkin and violinists Midori and Leila Josefowicz.
Vanessa Williams will open the season on September 27 performing "chart topping favorites and award-winning ballades," according to the company.

The SSO's classical series features Van Cliburn Piano Competition gold medalists Alexander Kobrin, Olga Kern, and Jon Nakamatsu. Also scheduled to perform are pianists Peter Serkin and Christopher O'Riley.

In the spring of 2007, Seattle Symphony music director Gerard Schwarz will guest conduct a performance featuring SSO principal timpanist Patrick Schrieves in Michael Daugherty's Timpani Concerto.

The Syracuse University Oratorio Society will perform twice with the SSO, once in the fall for Mozart's Requiem, and again in the spring, when SSO resident conductor Grant Cooper conducts Orff's Carmina Burana.
