Mauritius, which bowed on Broadway, will be the final show of the 2008 season, playing Oct. 17-Nov. 23.

Looped, a new play by Matthew Lombardo (Tea at Five), will replace the previously announced Mrs. Warren's Profession. Directed by John Tillinger (Tea at Five; Say Goodnight, Gracie), the new play "gives a glimpse into the eccentric life of true Hollywood legend Tallulah Bankhead." Performances will start June 27 toward a July 6 opening. Performances will play to Aug. 3.

"I am very pleased that we are adding a world premiere and a West Coast premiere of new American plays to our current season. We had great success with Matthew Lombardo's Tea at Five, and I am sure that his funny and theatrical depiction of Tallulah Bankhead will be equally popular," stated Sheldon Epps, Pasadena Playhouse artistic director.

No casting has been announced.

According to Pasadena Playhouse, "Looped tells the story of Tallulah Bankhead, the original celebrity bad girl, being called into a sound studio to 'loop' one line of dialogue for what would be her last film. Southern, but by no means a belle, Ms. Bankhead was known for her wild partying that outshined even today's superstars, including innumerable affairs with male and female celebrities and outlandish exploits that were even investigated by the British secret service. Relish in the promiscuity, scandal and outrageous wit with the sultry-voiced stage and film star who lived them." The Playhouse's current attraction is the world-premiere musical Mask, based on the film of the same name. It will be followed by Of Mice and Men, Looped, Vanities (the musical) and Mauritius.
